Resumen
El objetivo de este artículo es el estudio de las empresas extranjeras de agua y gas en España en las últimas décadas del siglo XIX y primeras del XX. El interés de este trabajo radica en tres aspectos que se reseñan a lo largo del texto. En primer lugar, la importancia que ha tenido la inversión extranjera en el análisis económico; en segundo, valorar la relevancia que tuvo en España; y por último, el papel que han jugado las in-dustrias de red –especialmente el gas y el agua‒ en este proceso inversor. The objective of this article is the study of foreign water and gas companies in Spain in the last decades of the 19th century and the first ones of the 20th. The interest of this work lies in three aspects that are outlined throughout the text. First, the importance that foreign investment has had in the economic analysis; second, assessing the relevance it had in Spain; and finally, the role played by the network industries ‒ especially water and gas ‒ in this investment process.Citación
