Resumen
This chapter analyses the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic on the global economy, differentiating between advanced and developing economies. The analysis is preceded by a brief history of the origin and dissemination of the infection and of policies to control the pandemic. In addition, the study looks at the state of the world economy before the onset of the pandemic by examining its main macroeconomic indicators. It also disaggregates this information between advanced and developing economies. The chapter continues by examining the evolution of these macroeconomic indicators during the pandemic, both at the global level and disaggregated for the cases addressed. Finally, it takes a balance sheet of the pandemic and the effects it has had on the global economy, without forgetting the prospects for recovery in the face of the uncertainty generated by the new variants of Covid-19 and the war between Russia and Ukraine.Citación
